The Tuberculosis Summit Research Programme (SRP) is led by Professor Nick Paton of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine. Under his leadership, a diverse group of infectious disease specialists, immunologists, geneticists and laboratory medicine researchers are tackling a major unmet need in public health.
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a leading infectious disease killer in the world. Furthermore, 60% of all TB cases are right here in Asia. The Tuberculosis SRP will leverage on access to the largest pool of TB cases in the world and infrastructure to develop and deliver new TB treatments for patients. Researchers use novel drug screening techniques, animal models and imaging methods to find and test new drugs and novel treatment combinations.
