The Metabolic Disease Summit Research Programme (SRP) is headed by Professor Tai E Shyong, of the Division of Endocrinology in the Department of Medicine. The programme brings together endocrinologists, cardiologists, and epidemiologists, as well as experts in experimental models, analytical methods, behavioural sciences and data analytics.
The number of cases of type 2 diabetes in Singapore is skyrocketing, and is projected to keep growing at a steep rate. To reverse the trend, the Metabolic Disease SRP aims to achieve two major goals. Firstly, it will develop new diabetes therapies. Secondly, the SRP will establish healthcare delivery models to enhance patient outcomes and improve physician adherence to best practices and patient adherence to treatment.
