Led by Associate Professor Chong Yap Seng , the Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes (GUSTO) Summit Research Programme (SRP) brings together gynaecologists, paediatricians, biomedical engineers and biostatisticians, along with experts in allergy, biobanking, body composition, cardiology, imaging, nutrition, ophthalmology, oral health, physical activity, social science, health expenditure, neurodevelopment and sleep.

Launched in June 2009, this very detailed birth cohort study – which saw its 1,247th and last baby born on 1 May 2011 – aims to understand how pregnancy and early childhood conditions may affect later growth and development, as well as metabolic, neurodevelopmental and other disorders, which have major public health and economic importance, not only in Asia, but globally.
